Diane Knox, LMFT
Everyone in the world is in a relationship - with ourselves, family, friends, co-workers, romantic partners, or even with the person you see once a week at the grocery store checkout. You navigate several relationships every day, often weaving in and out of them to meet the needs of your changing roles. The quality of each relationship can positively or negatively influence your experience of family, your environment, and how you feel about you!
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I focus on how your mental wellness might be impacted by one or more of these relationships in your life.
My professional experience includes working with culturally and ethnically diverse children, adolescents, teens, adults and their families in community outreach, outpatient, and school-based settings; and I am looking to expand my work to older adults and their families as they navigate relationship challenges and transitions unique to that time of their lives.
I have experience working with individuals and families seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, ADHD, communication, boundaries, family conflict, individual/family transitions, and family/peer relationships using a variety of approaches including Systems Therapies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness. I am trained in Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and Modular Approach to Therapy with Children (MATCH-ADTC) and am IFS (Internal Family Systems) and trauma informed.
When working with individuals and families it is important to me that I not only treat symptoms but help identify the many strengths used routinely, and often unknowingly, like coming to therapy. Individuals and families frequently start therapy focused on “fixing” what’s “wrong”, while I help individuals/families use what’s going “right” to improve what’s going “wrong.”
My therapeutic process is collaborative and whether you are 5 or 75, individual or family, your voice(s) in that collaboration is very important.
Diane is in-network with most Aetna, Husky, Cigna, Optum, Medicare, and Anthem plans. She offers individual and family therapy both in person at the South Windsor office and via telehealth.
